Hi!

 

Let me introduce myself... my name is Jaime Simmons, and I have been a rabble-rouser from a very young age. Now, I have over thirty years in the nonprofit trenches, most recently as the Director of the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management. 

 

At some point, I will finally complete my Ph.D. in Community Engagement at Point Park University, but I have an MA in Socially Responsible Business & Sustainable Communities from Goddard College (RIP) and an MA in Organizational Design and Systems from Fielding Graduate University, providing a robust foundation for my work at the intersection of nonprofit management and community impact.

I'm a nonprofit nerd, specifically nonprofit organizational development, feminist activism, alternative organizational structures, and the role of art in social movements and placemaking. 

 

My work challenges organizations to reimagine expertise, recognizing that communities possess profound knowledge about their own challenges, assets, and solutions.

Through facilitating workshops, conducting board assessments, and speaking at conferences, I help organizations move from traditional top-down approaches to genuine partnership models. My extensive work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) has informed my commitment to creating more equitable and accessible nonprofit structures.

 

I'm based in Pittsburgh, but have experience in the nonprofit ecosystems of Seattle, Western Massachusetts, and Northeastern Ohio. I'm always up to learning a new region to help a nonprofit succeed. So, don't let arbitrary lines on a map prevent you from reaching out.
